Description

Finally finished the bodice, guimpe and hat to go with the black wool skirt; the fashion period  is 1910-1913.
Bodice and skirt are lightweight wool. I wanted to keep the skirt wearable as a separate, to I did not sew it to the bodice but attached hooks to the bodice and eyes to the skirt to keep them securely connected. I'm wearing a belt over the junction, though it could work without. Actual 1910-1913 patterns from Ageless Patterns (bodice) and Past Patterns (skirt).
Worn here over a separate guimpe, which incorporates vintage lace sleeve cuffs and vintage netting with soutache work, over new silk lining and a base of cotton netting.
Hat is a toque I made really quickly for an outing, using pattern from Lynn McMasters. A soft, sewn hat, in coating weight wool with a brushed/felted surface, interfaced with lightweight buckram, and wired with a light gauge millinery wire at the top only. A drawstring lining construction keeps it from falling down over my face (i.e., it is smaller on the inside, unlike a tardis).
