The kryptonite dress

Description

1896-1897 promenade costume (day dress) from authentic Victorian pattern (ageless patterns), made here in outrageously green cotton ottoman with black velvet and braid trims. For a change I made the dress pretty much straight from the pattern, even the trim is very close to the original "fashion plate" drawing of the pattern (original suggested in grey-blue though). Sleeve puffs and bottom of skirt interfaced in haircloth (a canvas made of linen and horse hairs for stiffness, still used in quality menswear tailoring). Hat made from Lynn McMasters' "belle epoque" pattern; buckram and wire covered in black velvet and lined in green silk taffeta. Hat trims used are vintage except the green feathers. Lace collar, jabot, and kid skin gloves are vintage/antique.
A really fun outfit to wear, but boy did we get attention! Not one to wear if you want to be left alone ;-)

Always a fan of your work. I love the almost geometric shape of the bodice and shoulders.
